Cricket fraternity slams Ollie Pope's bizarre catch appeal

England wicketkeeper Ollie Pope was criticised for claiming a dropped catch of Abdullah Shafique during the hosts' innings in the first Test at Rawalpindi.

In the 34th over of Pakistan's first innings, bowled by James Anderson, Abdullah Shafique gloved a ball down the leg side. Despite Pope's claim that he made the catch, Joel Wilson decided to consult the third umpire to determine the outcome.

Shafique was ruled not out because the ball had bounced before being caught by Pope, as evidenced by the replay.

The Cricket fraternity are unimpressed by Pope's claim on the social networking website Twitter.
