Drunk former Indian cricketer beats a man and his son

Former Indian cricketer Praveen Kumar has landed himself in hot waters after his neighbor Deepak Sharma claimed that the cricketer allegedly beat him and his seven-year-old son in a drunken state.

While explaining the incident to an Indian Television channel Aaj Tak, Deepak said that the police authorities have refused to register a complaint against Praveen since he is a high-profile cricketer.

“I was waiting for my son at the bus stop at 3:00 pm. Kumar arrived at the spot, came out of his car and abused the bus driver first and later abused me,” said Deepak. “He was in an inebriated condition. Later, he thrashed me and fractured my hand. Kumar also pushed my son who has suffered injury in his back. Now the police are forcing me to compromise.”

“Moreover, I have started receiving death threats,” he added.

However, Superintendent of Police (SP) Akhilesh Narayan Singh has said that they are investigating the incident and will take due action based on their findings.

“Both of them are neighbours and they have informed the police about the incident. We are investigating the matter based on their statements. Further action will be taken accordingly. The medical process has also been done.”

Praveen, who played all three formats for India between 2007 and 2012, decided to quit the game in October last year at the age of 32.
