Franchises ask PCB to shift remaining PSL matches to UAE

All six franchises of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), according to ESPNcricinfo, have asked the Pakistan Cricket Board to shift the remaining matches of the tournament’s season six to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from Karachi.

The request was made through a letter last week and the board is currently reviewing its plans.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 cricket tournament has also been indefinitely suspended due to the Covid-19 crisis in the country, IPL chairman Brijesh Patel told Reuters on Tuesday.

Pakistan too is currently facing a rise in Covid-19 cases which could have prompted the request.

In the initial plans, the teams were supposed to arrive in Karachi on May 23 to start their seven day quarantine period. The matches were supposed to begin on June 2 culminating with the final on June 20.

Earlier, the PCB had decided to postpone the sixth edition of the HBL PSL, after multiple positive Covid-19 cases, on March 4.

According to details, seven players and one support staff official had tested positive for the virus which led to question marks over PCB’s bio-secure bubble arrangements and reservations from foreign players.
