Indian legend, Sunil Gavaskar, made a comparison with Pakistan to highlight the impressive quality of the present Indian fast bowling lineup.

His words were ignited by the stellar performance of pace bowler Mohammed Siraj, who orchestrated India's resounding 10-wicket victory over Sri Lanka, securing their eighth Asia Cup title.

"Honestly, I can't recall when we had something like that. But it just tells you the quality of the new ball attack, that India have," Gavaskar said while speaking to India Today.

"A lot of times, people talk about Pakistan's new ball attack. But I think this Indian new ball attack, with Bumrah coming back. Bumrah might not have got the wickets, but he kept the pressure on.

"Don't forget, we have someone like Mohammed Shami, who is not playing in the XI. So it just tells you that the reserve India has, as far as pace bowling is concerned."

Praising Mohammed Siraj's exceptional performance, Gavaskar highlighted the infectious enthusiasm and unwavering commitment the young pacer displayed on the field.

"Siraj deserves all the praise. I also love the way everybody in the Indian team was laughing when he having taken those wickets, he chased the ball to the boundary. Just shows the energy of the man, the enthusiasm of the man to be totally involved. He is one of those cricketers, who gives every ball, everything", Gavaskar added.

Siraj got four wickets in one over to help skittle Sri Lanka out for 50. Siraj made the ball swing and seam in overcast conditions to easily surpass his previous ODI best of 4-32.
He got Pathum Nissanka for two and then struck on successive balls to send back Sadeera Samarawickrama (0) and Charith Asalanka (0), but a hat-trick was averted.

Dhananjaya de Silva hit a boundary but Siraj had him caught behind with the next ball, much to the delight of the Indian fans.

Siraj got his fifth with the wicket of Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka, equalling an ODI record for the fastest five-wicket haul from his first 16 balls of the match.

Kusal Mendis hit three boundaries before becoming Siraj's sixth wicket, although Sri Lanka avoided the lowest-ever ODI total of 35 by Zimbabwe.
