Hasan Ali receives Lancashire County Cap from his 'idol' James Anderson

Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali joined Red Rose royalty in being awarded County Cap. The 27-year-old was awarded his County Cap ahead of Day One of Lancashire's County Championship match against Essex.

In a special presentation before the start of play at Emirates Old Trafford, there were words from Director of Cricket Performance Mark Chilton followed by James Anderson who then presented Hasan with his cap.

Hasan has won the hearts of Lancashire's players, Members and supporters alike, with his all-action performances with the ball so far this summer.

Hasan's picked up 24 wickets at an average of 17.5 - and is currently the leading wicket taker in Division One - with one match left of his overseas spell with the Red Rose.

Speaking during the presentation, James Anderson said: "On behalf of the players, Hasan, I want to say thank you for your efforts during your time with the Club.

"You haven't been here very long, but you've had a huge impact and played some match winning performances. I know this is your last week, so let's go out on a high and send you off with a win and some more wickets.

"I hope this isn't the last we see of you, we'd love to have you back in the future."

Hasan expressed his pleasure and was honoured to receive the Lancashire county cap from the legendary pacer Anderson.

It must be noted Hasan was signed for first six county championship matches. He will return to Pakistan after the game against Essex.
