Here's how Pakistan can surpass New Zealand’s Net Run Rate

New Zealand will take on Pakistan in the ICC World Cup 2023 on Saturday in Bengaluru.

Pakistan ended their four-match losing streak in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 with a resounding seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh at Eden Gardens on Tuesday.

This crucial win propelled Pakistan to the fifth spot on the points table, accumulating six points from three wins out of seven matches. While Pakistan remains in contention for a semi-final spot, they face a challenging road ahead.

Meanwhile, New Zealand has slipped to the fourth spot in the points table following a 190-run loss to South Africa in Pune on Wednesday. Currently, New Zealand's net run rate stands at +0.484, in contrast to Pakistan's -0.024.

The upcoming clash between Pakistan and New Zealand holds significant implications. A victory for Pakistan would bring both teams level on points, each accumulating eight. To surpass New Zealand's net run rate, Pakistan would need to win by approximately 83 runs or chase the target in around 35 overs.

However, it's worth noting that both teams have one more game remaining after this encounter, introducing the possibility of a new net run rate scenario in the final group match. The stakes are high as the teams vie for a coveted spot in the semi-finals of the ICC World Cup 2023.
