Former Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad believes that the International Cricket Council (ICC) should step forward and stop its members from touring India due to security concerns.
A Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) was recently passed in India, which triggered demonstrations all across the country. At least 21 people have been killed, since the law was passed, in protests.
While speaking in a video posted on pakpassion.net, the batting legend requested foreign teams to take a stand against India on the basis of humanity.
“My message to ICC, please stop all the playing countries [from] touring India. Now you can see, now [we] will see the justice from ICC, what are they going to do and what they are going to say to the world,” said Miandad. “ICC, come forward and tell all the world, all the people who are members with the ICC, they must tell all the countries [to] stop playing any games in India because India is [no longer] a safe country.”
“Other countries are better than India because India is fighting with the people, their own people. Look at that, what’s going on? Must take action,” he added.

Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ehsan Mani had also stated that India is a far greater security risk as compared to Pakistan, after Pakistan celebrated Test cricket's return to the country after a decade with an emotional 1-0 series victory against Sri Lanka.
“We have proved that Pakistan is safe, if someone isn’t coming then they should prove that it’s unsafe. At this time, India is a far greater security risk than Pakistan,” said Mani.
Responding to Mani’s statement, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’s vice-president Mahim said that PCB should worry about security in its own country first.
"They should look at security in their own country first and think about it first. We are capable enough to handle our country and security here," Verma told Asian News International (ANI).
One the treasurers of the BCCI, Arun Dhumal, also questioned Mani’s comments on the security situation in India.
“For a person who stays mostly in London, it is inappropriate for him to comment on anything on India’s security. He is not even eligible to comment on Pakistan’s security. He hardly stays there. If he gets to spend more time in Pakistan, he would get to understand the real situation there,” Dhumal was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
