The much-awaited clash of the 2019 World Cup between arch-rivals India and Pakistan has received the most number of applications for ticket balloting.
As per the report published in Deccan Chronicle, the Old Trafford clash has received more than 50,000 applications for balloting, which is closely followed by the final of the tournament, which will be played on July 14 at Lord’s.
There have been more than a million applications received by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the balloting, which means 42 out of 48 matches will be balloted.
"The response has been fantastic; not only domestically in England and Wales, but from fans around the world, which gives us enormous satisfaction as we work towards making this a truly global celebration of cricket," said 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup Managing Director Steve Elworthy. "We expected a high demand for tickets, so we are pleased we could reward the players, coaches, umpires and supporters who make up the Cricket Family via priority access. We look forward to seeing the excitement continue when the Public Ballot opens later this summer.”
The balloting will take place next week.
Fans, whose applications get rejected, will get another chance to book the tickets when the public ballot opens on August 1, which will be the first time the tickets will be on general release, whereas remaining tickets will go on sale later in the year.
