Lahore Qalandars advanced to the final of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season seven by claiming a six-run win over Islamabad United in Eliminator 2.

Qalandars are playing without their frontline spinner, Afghanistan's Rashid Khan as he is in Bangladesh for international duties.

The star player left Qalandars' squad after playing nine matches where he took 13 wickets. Australia's Fawad Khan was named as his replacement for the remainder of the competition but he only played the last league game against Peshawar Zalmi.

England all-rounder Samit Patel played the last two games for Qalandars and bowled in the middle-overs.

Meanwhile, according to sources, the 23-year-old would be available for his team in the final of the HBL PSL 7 against Lahore Qalandars tomorrow.

However, Qalandars management has not confirmed the development yet.

A negative PCR test will be required for Rashid to appear in the final if he lands in Pakistan.

Remember, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also announced on Wednesday that in line with the prevalent NCOC regulations and the current Covid-19 positivity trend in the country, the HBL PSL 2022 Health and Safety Protocols have been modified.

One of the amendments is: Reduction in isolation period of asymptomatic cases from seven to five days. A negative Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) will be required to exit the isolation.

Yesterday, Islamabad United also availed the services of Ireland's Paul Stirling for the Eliminator 2 against Qalandars as he returned a negative PCR test upon his arrival in Pakistan from Oman.

It must be noted that Qalandars were the only team to beat Sultans in the league stage of the tournament. They defeated defending champions by 52 runs on February 11 and Rashid bagged figures of 2/33.
