The chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, has revamped the national women’s selection committee, expanding it to seven members following the Pakistan women's team's disappointing 3-0 series loss to the West Indies Women.
The committee's retained members from the previous panel are Asmavia Iqbal and Marina Iqbal. The expanded committee now includes Abdul Razzaq and Asad Shafiq (both part of the men’s national selection committee), along with former international player, Batool Fatima. In accordance with the men's national selection committee structure, the women’s coach and captain will also join the national women’s selection committee.
The primary task for the new committee is to select the Pakistan women’s team for their upcoming tour of England, featuring three T20Is and three ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25 matches from May 11 to May 29.
Despite the recent series loss, Pakistan currently ranks fifth in the 10-team ICC Women's Championship 2022-25. The top five teams from this championship, along with hosts India, will automatically qualify for the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, while the remaining teams will enter a qualifying tournament.
