Not only cricket, we should cut all ties with Pakistan: Gambhir

Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir, who has been quite a provocative figure when it has come to relations between Pakistan and India, has stoked up another controversy where he not only wants his country to not play cricket with Pakistan, but wants them to cut off all ties with their neighbours.

“Merely boycotting cricketing ties with Pakistan will not help. If a ban is imposed, it should be in all sectors, be it films, music or any other. Nobody from Pakistan should be provided an opportunity to perform in India unless the relations between the two neighbours improve,” said Gambhir, quoted ANI.

Gambhir further urged his country to be more strict in matters relating to Pakistan.

“In the recent past, we have initiated talks with Pakistan on many occasions, but no substantial outcome has been achieved. Every country has its own level of patience and importance. First thing, of course, is to talk. But if that doesn’t work, one has to take strict action,” said Gambhir.

These statements come mere days after the 36-year-old was involved in a Twitter spat with Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi when the latter urged to United Nations to interfere and stop the use of force on civilians by the Indian Army in Kashmir.
