West Indies all-rounder Darren Sammy has urged the International Cricket Council (ICC) to stand up against racism, after violent protests erupted across the United States over the death of a handcuffed black man, George Floyd, in police custody

Sammy, in a series of tweets on Tuesday, also asked all the cricket boards to unite in fight against the social evil.

“ICC and all the other boards, are you guys not seeing what’s happening to people like me? Are you not gonna speak against the social injustice against my kind. This is not only about America. This happens every day. Black lives matter, now is not the time to be silent. I want to hear you,” Sammy tweeted.

“Right now if the cricket world is not standing against the injustice against people of color after seeing that last video of that foot down the next of my brother [George Floyd], you are also part of the problem,” he added.

Yesterday, in an Instagram post, West Indies veteran opener Chris Gayle had revealed that racism is also prevalent in cricket and he has been a victim of it.

"Black lives matter just like any other life. Black people matter, stop taking black people for fools, even our own black people wise up and stop bringing down your own! I have travelled the globe and experience racial remarks towards me because I am black, believe me, the list goes on," Gayle wrote.
