Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez announced his retirement from international cricket on Monday morning; something that not many people were prepared for.
After having an illustrious career for Pakistan, Hafeez has finally decided to hang up his boots after 18 years of service. The all-rounder represented Pakistan in 55 Test matches, 218 ODIs, and 119 T20s; he amassed 12,780 runs across all formats and took 253 wickets.
“Today I say goodbye to international cricket with pride and satisfaction. In fact, I have earned and accomplished more than I had initially envisaged and for that, I am thankful to all my fellow cricketers, captains, support staff, and the Pakistan Cricket Board who helped me out during my career," said Hafeez during a press conference.
Following his announcement, Hafeez's name became a trending topic and everyone had something to add when it came to praising his successful and long-lasting career.
