PCB provides major update on Mickey Arthur

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed it has been in talks with former national team head coach Mickey Arthur to appoint him as the head coach to guide the side through to the ACC Asia Cup, ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

However, owing to his long-term contract with Derbyshire, we have also discussed a proposal to act as a consultant to the PCB on a time-sharing basis with Derbyshire. Unfortunately, this option is proving difficult to materialise for various reasons on both sides.

Under the circumstances, the PCB will continue its search for the right person to fit the national team head coach slot, and some top names are already under consideration.

It is to be noted that Arthur had a history of success with the team, having led them to their first-ever Champions Trophy win in 2017 and a record 11 consecutive T20I series wins.

Recently, with the team's underwhelming performance at home, there has been talk of making changes in the coaching staff.

Despite making it to the final of the T20 World Cup in 2022, some fans are calling for a change in the coaching setup.
