Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter, Rashid Latif, commended Mohammad Wasim, the previous chief selector of the national cricket team, for his impressive performance in the position.
However, Latif also emphasized the importance of recognizing the efforts of the individuals who worked in the background and assisted Wasim as chief selector.
Latif acknowledged that while Wasim did a commendable job, he failed to highlight the contributions of those who supported him.
"Wasim's tenure as chief selector was good. It was a one-man show but he did well," Latif said on national Television.
"I think he made a mistake of not highlighting people who worked for him behind the scenes. People like Kamran Muzaffar, who has a genius cricket mind, worked for Wasim, but he never got a space to come forward. Wasim's laptop was just a display. Actual work was done behind the scenes," he added.
Muzaffar is an experienced cricket commentator, analyst and writer. He also features in TV talk shows and news bulletins as Panelist and Cricket Expert.
Wasim was sacked from his role as Pakistan men's team Chief Selector, after Najam Sethi took charge of the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) management committee in Decemeber 2022.
Wasim was named head of the selection committee in January 2021. He was under immense pressure after Pakistan got whitewashed in the home Test series against England and finally lost his job before the following Test series against New Zealand.
