Pakistan have registered a complaint to the match referee Javagal Srinath against New Zealand veteran middle-order batsman Ross Taylor for his misbehavior during the first One-Day International (ODI) in Abu Dhabi.

The Black Caps took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series with 47-run win on Wednesday, where Taylor played an important knock and scored 80 off 112 balls with the help of five fours and helped the visitors in posting a competitive total of 266-9.

But an interesting development occurred during the 26th over of the Kiwis innings when Taylor raised objection with the on-field umpire about the bowling action of Pakistan veteran off-spinner Mohammad Hafeez.

Taylor reportedly told umpires that Hafeez was bowling  a 'doosra' — a leg break bowled with an apparent off-break action — which he was not allowed to bowl.

The umpires, while rejecting Taylor's objection, told him to keep focus on his batting as it was their duty to observe the proceedings.

Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed also had a word following that incident with the on-field umpires and then directed Hafeez to continue bowling.

Following the match, the team management filed a complaint against the 34-year-old and now the right-hander is expected to face disciplinary action, report suggests.

Pakistan captain later also criticised Taylor in the post-match press conference by saying, “I will say that Taylor’s action was not correct,” Sarfraz said. “It’s not his job to give (the) action which was shown on TV. It was disgraceful, for me.”

“His job is to do batting and if he concentrates on that, it’s better. I complained to umpires that his action did not come under sportsmanship.  Ross is a professional cricketer and he should not have done that. He did it two or three times - it’s (the) umpires’ job.”

Sarfraz added: “Hafeez’s action has no problem and (Taylor) was trying to create an issue without a reason.”

Hafeez's bowling action has been objected to several times in the past, where he was also suspended from bowling for a 12-month period.
