Sarfaraz wants Gayle to win HBL PSL with Quetta Gladiators

Quetta Gladiators’ skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed is optimistic about his team’s chances ahead of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six.

While talking to Cricket Pakistan in an exclusive interview, Sarfaraz also hoped that hard-hitting opener Chris Gayle will win the PSL with the Gladiators.

“Chris Gayle was unable to perform according to expectations during his previous stints in PSL but hopefully this time he will have the best PSL of his career and win the title for us,” said Sarfaraz.

“We will try to ensure that we don’t repeat the mistakes we made last year and put up a good show during the tournament,” he added.

He also praised Azam Khan, son of head coach Moin Khan, for impressing one and all with his performances in the recent past.

“Azam Khan has worked really hard and the improvement he has shown is commendable. In times to comes, he will perform will for the national side as well,” he said. “Moin [Khan] bhai’s name is always associated with him but he tries to ignore it and only focus on his game.”

He also named Quetta’s key players ahead of the upcoming HBL PSL 6.

“Mohammad Nawaz has always been a key player for us over the past seasons, while Anwar Ali has been in great form in domestic cricket. We also have the likes of Naseem [Shah], [Mohammad] Hasnain and Usman Shinwari,” he said.

Sarfaraz is also keen on improving his personal performance during PSL. 

“I’m looking forward to playing PSL and will try to use the time I spent training with the Pakistan team to good effect. I will try to fulfil the demands of national selectors by performing to the best of my ability.”

He also praised wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan after his brilliant performance for the national side.

“This is a great sign for Pakistan cricket that Mohammad Rizwan is performing well and leading the side to victories. I hope he continues to perform like this in the future as well,” he concluded.
