Shadab reveals reason behind Pakistan’s recent success in T20Is

Young leg-spinner Shadab Khan has revealed Pakistan’s goals in the shortest format of the game after registering a series sweep over Scotland in Edinburgh.

Shadab was one of the star performers for the visitors as the Men in Green registered eighth consecutive series win under the leadership of Sarfraz Ahmed in the 20-over format with an 84-run win against the home side on Wednesday.

Shadab claimed three wickets in two games against Scotland, and while talking to the media after the match, the 19-year-old said that team is now focusing on prolonging its purple patch in T20Is.

“The reason why we are doing well is because we play as a family,” said Shadab. “We want to continue our good run of form and retain number one status in T20I cricket till the next World T20.”

Shadab, who till now has represented Pakistan in 18 T20Is, 17 ODIs and four Tests, believes that the inclusion of youngsters in the squad has helped in improving overall fielding. “The infusion of youngsters in the side has helped in improving our fielding standards because of fresh legs,” he said.

The Mianwali-born leggie also talked about his Test bowling performance by stating that: “I have improved my pace and variations since my first Test match and will continue to do so in next matches as well. I will work with Saeed Ajmal and Mushtaq Ahmed on my bowling once I get back home.”

Shadab also praised skipper Sarfraz for backing his bowling credentials and the aggressive nature of his captaincy. “Sarfraz’s aggression helps my confidence because he backs me to pick up wicket even if I go for a few runs,” he concluded.

After a successful tour of Ireland, England and Scotland, Pakistan team will return home on June 15.
