Sharif referred to Afridi's father-in-law, Shahid Afridi, who is also a renowned cricketer, and highlighted the younger Afridi's impressive batting skills.
The 22-year-old had previously scored a half-century in the tournament and was even seen practicing his batting technique with his experienced relative.
Lahore successfully defended their title, becoming the first team to take the trophy home for the second consecutive time.
Qalandars beat Multan Sultans by just one run, despite the latter team coming very close to achieving the daunting target of 201 runs.
