Sir Viv Richards heaps praise on Quetta Gladiators’ duo Naseem, Hasnain

The Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Quetta Gladiators’ mentor Sir Vivian Richards has heaped praise on Pakistan pacers Naseem Shah and Mohammad Hasnain, after the former took a hat-trick on the third day of the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi.

The legendary Windies cricketer was impressed with the work done by the HBL PSL franchise in nurturing the rookie pace duo.

Naseem, aged 16 years and 359 days, became the youngest player to record a Test hat trick, besting Bangladeshi Alok Kapali who achieved the feat aged 19 in 2003.

Naseem trapped batsman Najumul Hossain Shanto leg before off the fourth ball of his seventh over for 38, then followed up with dismissals of batsmen Taijul Islam (lbw) and Mahmudullah (caught) with the next two deliveries.

It must be noted that Hasnain, 19 years and 183 days old, became the youngest ever cricketer to take a hat-trick in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) while playing against Sri Lanka in Lahore, last year in October. Hasnain removed Bhanuka Rajapaksa (32), Dasun Shanaka (17) and Shehan Jayasuriya (2) off successive deliveries to achieve this feat.
