T20 World Cup: No place for Shaheen in Doull’s team of the tournament

Former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull has shared his team of the tournament for the ongoing T20 World Cup, which includes four Pakistan cricketers.

The renowned commentator revealed his picks after the end of the Super 12 stage of the event, during a show for Cricbuzz.

Doull included Babar Azam at the top of the order while also naming him as the “best skipper in the tournament”.

He also picked all-rounder Shoaib Malik and hard-hitting batter Asif Ali in his XI.

“How can you go past Shoaib Malik and Asif Ali? They have won games and finished games for Pakistan,” said Doull.

Finally, he included pacer Haris Rauf as part of his bowling attack.

“I just wanted some raw pace to ruffle feathers and knock helmets off, so I have gone for Haris Rauf,” he said.

Doull admitted that it was a tough decision to leave Shaheen Shah Afridi out of the team.

“It was hard to leave Shaheen out of the team but, because I already had a left-armer in Boult, I wanted another righty,” he concluded.

Simon Doull’s team of the tournament:

Babar Azam (c), Jos Buttler (wk), Charith Asalanka, Aiden Markram, Shoaib Malik, Asif Ali, Moeen Ali, Wanindu Hasaranga, Josh Hazlewood, Trent Boult, Haris Rauf.
