Thankful to PM Shehbaz Sharif for nominating me - Shahid Afridi

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for appointing him to the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) management committee.

Afridi stated on a local TV channel that he is looking forward to working at the grassroots level for Pakistan cricket but that his permanent role in the new setup is uncertain.

"I am really thankful to PM Shehbaz Sharif for nominating me to the committee," said the flamboyant all-rounder of his time. "I have talked to Najam Sethi twice since morning. I told him about my schedule, which is tough due to my welfare work and family. But, I am available to them anytime, especially for working at the grass root level," he added.

Afridi stated that there is a shortage of fast bowlers for all three formats of the game when discussing national team combinations. "We have two left-arm spinners, but we are short of fast bowlers, keeping in mind all three game formats," he highlighted.

"I don't think Naseem Shah is fit enough to play Test cricket. How can we take 20 wickets with this bowling lineup? Shahnawaz Dahani and Mohammad Hasnain should be there in the team," he concluded.

On December 21, Prime Minister Shehbaz constituted the PCB management committee. The committee was formed to restore the 2014 constitution.

Najam Sethi heads the committee while other members include Sheikh, Gul Zada, Aized Syed, Tanvir Ahmed, Gul Muhammad Kakar, Ayaz Butt, Nauman Butt, Shahid Afridi, Shafqat Rana, Haroon Rashid, Sana Mir, Mustafa Ramday, and Chaudhry Arif Saeed.
