Legendary Pakistan pacers Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis have brushed aside the notion that the T20 World Cup match between India and Afghanistan, on Wednesday, was fixed.

Some moments from the match, including the toss, were doing rounds on social media, with netizens claiming that Afghanistan were deliberately trying to lose the match in order to keep India alive in the tournament.

The hashtag ‘fixed’ was the number one trending topic in Pakistan for a long period of time.     

“I don’t know why we like to create such conspiracy theories? India are a very good team. They just had couple of bad days at the start of the tournament,” said Akram on A Sports.

“It’s a pointless thing to say and people should not give it much attention,” added Younis.

India finally flexed their muscles to crush Afghanistan by 66 runs in Abu Dhabi and keep alive their slim hopes of reaching the T20 World Cup semi-finals.

The Indian batting finally fired with Sharma and KL Rahul, who made 69, putting on 140 for the opening wicket to guide India to 210 for two in their must-win Super 12 game in Abu Dhabi.

The tournament's highest total proved too much for Afghanistan who finished on 144-7 in 20 overs.

The 2007 champions' hopes of making the last four hang by a thread following heavy losses to Pakistan and New Zealand in their first two Super 12 group matches.

Group II leaders Pakistan have booked their semi-final spot and India must win their last two games to have a chance of joining them in the last four.
