Pakistan’s leg-spinner Yasir Shah set an unwanted record, on the third day of the first Test match against Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane on Saturday, by becoming the first bowler in history to concede more than 200 runs in an innings twice while playing in Australia.

The leg-spinner conceded 205 runs in 48.2 overs while picking up four wickets. He had previously conceded 207 runs against the same opposition in 41 overs, while picking up three wickets in Melbourne in 2016.

Sri Lanka’s legendary former off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan and Australia’s legendary former pacer Brett Lee have also conceded more than 200 runs in an innings while playing in Australia. However, the duo only managed the unwanted feat once in their career.

Muralitharan conceded 224 runs in 54 overs while taking two wickets against Australia at Perth in 1995. Lee conceded 201 in 39.3 overs while taking four wickets against India at Sydney in 2004.

Pakistan dismissed Australia for 580 runs in the first innings, conceding a hefty lead of 340. Earlier on day one, the visitors were dismissed for 240 runs after winning the toss and deciding to bat first.
