Pakistan’s Under-19 wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Haris, during a media talk at the Hanif Mohammad High Performance Centre Karachi, revealed that he was inspired by England’s prolific one-day international (ODI) batsman Jos Buttler.

The youngster, who is set to feature in next month’s Under-19 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, explained his match strategy which is based on aggression.

“I like Jos Buttler a lot,” Haris said. “I play aggressively and try not to become a burden on the team and achieve the required run rate.”

Haris stated that his performance was the result of the support given to him by the coach and management.

“I play my natural game, our coach and the management has given me the confidence to play naturally which is the reason behind my performance,” he said.

The Under-19 side will go up against India in the Asia Cup as well but the wicketkeeper, however, downplayed the importance of the match.

“We have been practicing for the past five-six months. We are preparing for every side whether it is India, Afghanistan or Kuwait, our preparations remain the same. Hopefully, we would give our best in the tournament,” he said.

Haris was confident that the Under-19 team was ready and would deliver in the tournament.

“This time we are hopeful that we will show something different in the field and come back as champions,” he concluded.
