Zaman sets sight on series sweep against Australia in T20I

Pakistan left-handed opener Fakhar Zaman has set his sights on having a perfect outing in the three-match T20I series against Australia.

The Men in Green and the Kangaroos will square off in the first match of the series in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

Talking to reporters at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, the 28-year-old revealed optimism for the team’s good show in the series.

“We are very confident after the way we won the Test series," said Zaman. "I hope that we will be able to repeat our Test performances in the T20Is as well. Obviously [our target is] 3-0 win against Australia in this series.”

Zaman, who made his debut in the five-day format during the second Test of the recently concluded Test series against Australia, where he scored half-centuries in both innings, also said that the team is working on their strengths rather than looking to exploit weak areas of the opposition.

"We aren't thinking much about Australia as we are working on what is in our hands,” he said. “We had some great [practice] sessions and the boys are really enjoying it."

Commenting on his recent failure in Asia Cup, the hard-hitting batsman said that having a lean patch is part and parcel of the game.

"In cricket, good and bad days are part and parcel of the game,” said Zaman. “Every cricketer goes through such session in their career but what happened in the Asia Cup is past now. We are all working hard and when you work hard, good results are bound to come."

Zaman further went on to reveal the support he received from the team management during his lean patch with the bat during the Asia Cup, which according to him, helped immensely in returning to form during the second Test against Australia.

"Even when I was not scoring runs, I was told by the coaching staff to continue working hard,” he said. “They kept reminding me that I am the main player of the team. Those words gave me great confidence and helped me return to form.”
