Pakistan openers Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq have earned career-high Test rankings following the latest International Cricket Council update (ICC).

Shafique has climbed five spots to 15th, while Imam has climbed thirteen spots to 38th in the list of Test batters. Recently, the duo made century in the opening innings of the first Test against England in Rawalpindi.

Additionally, Pakistan's captain Babar Azam retained his third spot in the ICC Test rankings.

Marnus Labuschagne, who replaced Joe Root in the first place, and Steve Smith are currently in first and second place, respectively, for Australia.

“Root obtained the top ranking during a golden run with the bat over the most recent English summer, but a mixed performance in the recent first Test in Pakistan and a strong showing from Labuschagne against the West Indies has seen a major shake-up at the head of proceedings,” the ICC said in a press release.

During the first Test in Perth against the West Indies, Labuschagne scored 204 and 104*.

Australia's Pat Cummins continues to lead the new Test bowler rankings, while India's Ravindra Jadeja leads the all-rounder standings.
