Abid Ali praises Abdullah Shafique on 'outstanding' debut

Pakistan opener Abid Ali has credited his partner Abdullah Shafique for putting up a great show in his debut Test against Bangladesh in Chattogram.

Pakistan claimed an easy eight-wicket win over home side Bangladesh. Abid scored 133 and 91 in both innings while Abdullah made 52 and 73 respectively.

Abid, while receiving Player of the Match, opined that they aimed to stay at the crease for a long period.

"Abdullah Shafique was making his debut, so we tried to stay on the crease, waited for bad balls and succeeded in putting those away. He played really well, I gave him more credit. He was outstanding and my best wishes are with him," Abid said.

Meanwhile, Abid was not happy to get the triple-figures mark in the second innings.

"I had done well in the domestic cricket and carried that positive mindset here too. I am a bit disappointed that I got out for 91 in the second innings but at the same time I am happy that we won the match," he added.
