Veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has put the onus on selectors after being ignored for One-day Internationals (ODIs) for Pakistan.

While speaking in a virtual press conference on Friday, the all-rounder confirmed that he is still available for selection in both limited-overs format.

“I represented Pakistan in all three formats. I left Test cricket on my own terms. However I am still available for white-ball cricket. I feel I am mentally and physically prepared for ODIs and T20Is. Only selectors can tell you their selection policy and why I am not part of the ODI setup. I have always played cricket with pride and want to leave with pride,” Hafeez said.

Hafeez is set to become the second Pakistan player and sixth overall to feature in 100 T20Is when he takes the field against South Africa in first of the four men’s Twenty20 Internationals at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday.

“I am very grateful to Almighty that I am going to play my 100th T20I match for Pakistan. I would be really happy if we can make the occasion memorable with a win as we want to start the T20I series on a winning note,” he said.

Hafeez believes Pakistan batsmen need to work on their power-hitting and said that he is always there to help them.

“We need to improve our power-hitting. I always try to guide the youngsters and will continue to support them,” he added.
