Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar has questioned the exclusion of all-rounder Imad Wasim for the upcoming tours of South Africa and Zimbabwe.

While talking to media in Islamabad, Akhtar also urged rookie pacer Shahnawaz Dhani to play more first-class cricket after being called up for the national side.

“He [Imad Wasim] deserved a place in the T20 squad as he is too good to be dropped from the T20 team,” said Akhtar.

“Shahnawaz Dhani has also been selected but he needs to play more first-class cricket,” he added.

Akhtar also threw weight behind proper club cricket in the country.

“I myself am a product of Club cricket. We need seasoned sports administrators to organize Club cricket and help groom talent,” he said.

It must be noted that the Pakistan Cricket Board, on March 10, had commenced the process for the registration of cricket clubs.

In the first phase only those clubs who have participated in either of the Fazal Mehmood club tournaments organized by the PCB in 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons and fulfil the requisite criteria, will be awarded voting rights. Remaining clubs will be considered for voting rights after the second scrutiny.
