Federal Areas register 114-run win in second match of the tournament
Kamran Akmal’s stunning century helped Federal Areas in registering a 114-run win against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) in the second match of the Pakistan Cup in Faisalabad on Thursday.
After opting to bat first, Federal Areas scored a mammoth total of 373 for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
The star of the show was captain Akmal, who continued his great form with the bat by scoring his 33rd List A century and finished with 105 off 84 balls with the help of 13 fours and four sixes.
He was well supported by Saad Nasim (78 not out off 42), Sohaib Maqsood (54 off 44) and Abid Ali (52 off 57).
For KPK, left-arm pacer Sadaf Hussain was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed three wickets and gave away 69 runs in his 10 overs.
In reply, KPK lost Shan Masood early, but opener Khurram Manzoor along with veteran batsman Mohammad Hafeez smashed 113 runs for second-wicket partnership to keep the team alive in the contest.
However, once Hafeez departed in the 21st over, KPK started losing wickets at regular interval and were eventually dismissed for 259 in the 44th over.
Hafeez finished the innings with the top score of 76 off 58 balls with the help of seven fours and four sixes.
For Federal Areas, left-arm pacer Waqas Maqsood was the star performer with the ball as he claimed figures of three for 40.
