Mohammad Amir frequently tweets about Kohli's centuries but appears less vocal about Babar's achievements
Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Amir recently addressed a question about his tweeting habits regarding century-scoring feats by India’s Virat Kohli and Pakistan skipper Babar Azam.
In a local sports show, a fan questioned Amir about his activity on ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter), noting that he frequently tweets about Kohli's centuries but appears less vocal about Babar's achievements.
Amir responded in a candid manner emphasizing that Kohli has been his favorite players over the years.
"Because Virat is my favorite, simple. You can see my tweets from 2017, even then I used to tweet about him because he’s my favorite,” Amir said.
However, Amir did promise to celebrate Babar's century when it is a "match-winning" one, akin to Fakhar Zaman's.
“When Babar will score a match-winning century like Fakhar Zaman, I'll be the first one to tweet about it,” he further added.
Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim, chimed in on the discussion. He emphasized that their critiques of Babar's performance are rooted in technical aspects of the game rather than animosity.
‘We don’t criticize him [Babar] here, we try to explain him technical points. However, that doesn’t mean we hate him. If we write something about someone, it isn’t out of hate. We also take criticism when we play. We are not blind fans; we try to talk on cricket-based facts. One shouldn’t get jealous if someone is tweeting about Virat or Babar, that’s a personal decision,” Imad said.
A fan asks Amir when Kohli scores a hundred you tweet about it but when Babar scores you don't?
