Security has been tightened for the 2019 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup encounter between India and Pakistan as armed police officers have been deployed for this purpose.

On the other hand match tickets are being sold for as high as PKR 500,000.

The clash between the traditional rivals will take place on Sunday, June 16 at Old Trafford.

Unprecedented security arrangements are being made because of the political tensions between the two countries.

According to local media, no reports of expected mischief have been received by intelligence agencies however officials have left no stone unturned in ensuring adequate security arrangements are in place.

Even though the deployment of armed officers is not common, they will be patrolling around the stadium and city centre. Security in the team hotels have been tightened as well. Also officers in civilian clothing are keeping a close eye on everyone around the vicinity.

It should be noted that the ICC received more than 500,000 applications for match tickets for the Indo-Pak encounter. The ground itself has a capacity of 25,000 spectators.
