The new Selection Panel led by Haroon Rasheed, have started deliberations on Pakistan cricket team's selection for the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan in Sharjah.

As per the reports, few players including Azam Khan, Imad Wasim, Ihsanullah, Saim Ayub and Osama Mir, are under consideration to join the national team due to their exceptional performances in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL). The selection committee is expected to hold a regular meeting soon. Initially, the option of announcing a list of twenty to twenty-two players is being considered, from which a sixteen-member team will be selected after consultation with the captain. The final squad will be announced before the PSL final.

As far as the schedule of the three-match series is concerned, the national team will leave for Sharjah on March 23, and the dates for the matches are March 25, 27, and 29.

Although the Afghanistan Cricket Board is hosting the series, both boards will share the revenue earned from the matches equally.

Earlier, Afghanistan team was scheduled to play a series against Australia, but Cricket Australia withdrew from the matches as a protest against the decision to ban women from playing, studying, and working.

At Afghanistan's request, the Pakistan Cricket Board agreed to play the series, and the Afghan cricketers have already started training in Kabul.
