The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has responded to a request from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi by providing two additional security officers to accompany the Pakistan cricket team, as reported by a local news channel.

This measure comes after an incident where fans mobbed Pakistan captain Babar Azam, for selfies and autographs, resulting in some unpleasant videos circulating online.

These extra security personnel will be responsible for ensuring the safety of the players during their movements, especially when they step out of their hotel. The decision follows an incident in Cardiff where Babar lost his temper as fans aggressively sought his attention while he and the team were likely heading to a team activity or practice session.

The increased security presence aims to prevent such occurrences and provide a secure environment for the players amid the ongoing series.

It is worth noting that the much-anticipated third T20 International match between England and Pakistan was called off due to relentless rain in Cardiff. Scheduled for Tuesday, the match could not proceed as the persistent downpour left the ground covered throughout the day, ultimately forcing the game to be abandoned without a single ball being bowled.
