Pakistan T20I skipper, Babar Azam, is poised to rewrite the record books in the forthcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland, commencing on May 10.

Babar stands on the cusp of surpassing multiple milestones. Just one victory would make him the most successful T20I captain, eclipsing the record held by Brian Masaba from Uganda, who boasts 44 wins as captain. Babar is currently tied with Masaba with 44 wins as captain.

Most T20I wins as captain:

  • Babar Azam: 44 (76 matches)
  • Brian Masaba: 44 (56)
  • Asghar Afghan: 42 (52)
  • Eoin Morgan: 42 (72)

Furthermore, Babar is also currently tied with Australian Aaron Finch for captaining his nation in the most T20Is in history, with 76 matches. When he leads Pakistan against Ireland on May 10, Babar will clinch the record for captaining his nation in most T20Is, surpassing Finch.

On the batting front, Babar is closing in on becoming the first Pakistani player to cross the 4000-run mark in T20I cricket. With 3823 runs to his name, he trails behind Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Babar sees the series against Ireland as an opportunity to close the gap on Kohli's record, needing just 215 runs to overtake him. This series holds great significance for Babar as he aims to overshadow the Indian batting maestro and etch his name in the annals of cricket history.

Most runs in T20I cricket:

  • Virat Kohli: 4037 (109 innings)
  • Rohit Sharma: 3974 (143)
  • Babar Azam: 3823 (107)
