Blind cricketers protest against PCB over insufficient budget

The Pakistan Blind cricketers staged a protest against the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over insufficient budget for the visually impaired athletes of the country.

In a protest outside the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, PCB’s headquarters, the blind cricketers criticised the governing body and asked for an increase in budget.

The blind cricketers stated that they only receive 10,000 rupees, per month, as part of their central contract which is inadequate. Meanwhile, the budget of the Blind Cricket Council has not been increased over the past two years.

According to sources, the PCB has set an annual budget of 17,000,000 for the Blind Cricket Council. The latter had requested for an increase in budget but it was rejected by the PCB.

Later, the protest was called off after Blind cricket team captain Nisar Ali announced that the PCB had agreed to increase the budget by five per cent. He added that if the budget was not increased further, within one month, the players will stage a protest outside the Prime Minister’s House.
