Hard-hitting West Indies opener Chris Gayle is keen on making his presence felt during the upcoming HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six, while playing for the Quetta Gladiators.

While speaking to Cricket Pakistan in an exclusive interview, Gayle said that he wants to start the tournament with a bang.

“I’m happy to be back in Pakistan after 15 years. Health-wise I’m feeling good and mental-wise I’m feeling even better. It’s been a long time but I’m excited to play in the PSL,” said Gayle. “I would love to start the tournament with a bang and give my Pakistan fans something to cheer about. I’m sure there are few Chris Gayle fans, who can inspire me to do better.”

He also had a word of advice for players looking to improve their power-hitting abilities.

“If six-hitting is your strength, you have got to back yourself. You have got be selective as well, it’s not every ball that you can hit for a six. Work your plan according to the situation,” he said.

Gayle also named Pakistan opener Ahmed Shehzad as his favourite Pakistan cricketer and is looking forward to playing under the captaincy of Sarfaraz Ahmed.

“It’s [Ahmed] Shehzad, since I have played with him in the CPL as well. He has always been one of my favorite players,” he said. “I never thought I would be playing with Sarfaraz [Ahmed] who is one of the most successful captains of Pakistan in recent times.”
