Pakistan suffered a disappointing defeat on Sunday, June 9, at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York, at the hands of India in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

The nail-biting match saw India edge out Pakistan with a spectacular finish, leaving fans and experts buzzing on the social media platform 'X'.

Prominent cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle praised the Indian bowlers for their exceptional performance in the final overs, stating, "Unbelievable result. That was bowling of the highest class at the end. This match was gone. The bowlers pulled it back."

Former England captain Michael Vaughan highlighted the challenging pitch conditions, adding, "Sometimes really poor pitches produce the best games...this was one of them. Pakistan just don't believe they can win. Simple as that."

Reflecting on Pakistan's performance, former cricketer Saeed Ajmal expressed his disappointment, saying, "Pakistan finished disappointingly. The bowling lineup did well, but the batting side had a dismal performance overall. The shot selection was very poor. Pakistan had every chance to win this match, but they couldn't pull it off. Tough luck, Pakistan."

Ahmed Shehzad, another Pakistani cricketer, echoed the sentiment of missed opportunities, remarking, "Really disappointed by the result tonight. 120 should have been chased on this pitch. Too many dot balls and unnecessary pressure created. Down to calculations and prayers now."

Adding his thoughts, Irfan Pathan, former Indian all-rounder, empathized with Pakistani fans, "And to all the honest Pakistani cricket fans. Your team did well in this game in many parts. Just couldn't go to the finish line. Batting is thin. With this batting line-up there will always be trouble if the pitch has something to offer and fielding is terrible to say the least."

India secured an exciting victory over Pakistan in the ongoing mega-event tournament. This triumph puts the Men in Blue at the top of the points table with four points. Their next challenge will be against the USA at the same venue on Wednesday , June 12.

Pakistan, on the other hand, will aim for their first points when they face Canada on Tuesday in New York. Group A’s next match is set for Tuesday, June 11, between Pakistan and Canada in New York.
