Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody and former New Zealand fast bowler Danny Morrison applauded Pakistan captain Babar Azam for his amazing century against New Zealand in the opening match of the series at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi.

Throughout his innings against the Black Caps, Babar shattered many records.

 Babar surpassed Joe Root to become 2022's leading Test scorer. He also tied Kumar Sangakkara's record for the most 50+ scores in international cricket in a calendar year and set a new record for the most international runs scored by a Pakistani in all forms of the game.

Director of Sri Lanka Cricket Tom Moody stated that it is an honour to see the 27-year-old bat.

Former New Zealand pacer turned commentator Morrison, also praised Skipper Babar Azam for his performance.

In addition, Azam finished the first day with 161 runs off 277 balls, while Agha Salman remained unbeaten with three runs off 16 balls.

The hosts' score at stumps on the opening day was 317 for five.
