The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) has imposed a five-year ban on Usman Khan, prohibiting him from participating in any leagues within the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

This action follows Usman's decision to terminate his retainer contract with the ECB, after being selected among 29 players for a fitness camp at Kakul commencing on March 26.

As this move constitutes a breach of his contract with the ECB, he has been sanctioned with a five-year ban.

Usman, who would have been eligible to play for the UAE cricket team from June next year, had initially been offered a retainer contract by the Emirates Cricket Board with this prospect in mind.

However, he has opted to represent Pakistan instead and has received assurances from the PCB that he will be included in the squad for the forthcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand.
