India’s cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle, in a Youtube video by Cricbuzz on Thursday, claimed that England’s Twenty20 International (T20I) side was wonderfully balanced as the visitors get ready to face India in the first T20I of the five-match series starting tomorrow at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
India had earlier won the four-match Test series between the two sides with a final scoreline of 3-1, which enabled them to qualify for the World Test Championship final against New Zealand.
The 59-year-old however listed down all the players who can make an impact from England’s T20 line-up while hinting towards a sterner test for the Men in Blue in the shorter format.

“I expect Roy and Bairstow to open the batting. Then you have got David Malan, ranked very high on the ICC rankings but quite apart from that has played a big role for England in T20 cricket recently. You got Malan, Morgan, Stokes, Butler, that’s a fabulous three, four, five, six and then they have got many options,” Bhogle said.
“They will want to play Moeen Ali for his finishing role and as a second spinner maybe Sam Curran at 8 that’s what I meant five left-handers in the top 8. Then you got Archer, Chris Jordan, and Adil Rashid. They bat all the way down to 11. They’ve got the leg spinner, an off-spinner, and four seamers one of them a left-hander,” he added.
The veteran commentator believed that the England side could prove to be a formidable force in the upcoming T20 World Cup in India that could provide high-scoring encounters.
“I think it’s a wonderfully balanced side. I think England in T20 cricket is right at the top and they are going to play with their full-strength side so that everyone understands their role before the T20 World Cup. So this England side will offer far sterner opposition on tracks that I expect should have a lot more runs than we have seen in the Test matches,” he said.
