Pakistan cricket team coaches Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie met with selection committee members to discuss the upcoming series and player preparations.

Azhar Mahmood, the national team’s assistant coach, also participated in this discussion.

Next month, Pakistan is scheduled to play a two-Test series against Bangladesh, followed by a three-Test series against England. In November, the white-ball team will head to Australia for a series of matches.

Given this packed schedule, selectors Mohammad Yousuf, Asad Shafiq, and Bilal Afzal, along with the coaches, deliberated on potential training camps and player readiness.

The discussions covered various aspects of the players' fitness and form. The selectors outlined their plans and received valuable input from the coaches.

Director of International Cricket Operations Usman Wahla and Director of Domestic Cricket Nadeem Khan were also in attendance.

According to sources, it was decided to conduct fitness tests for potential players before the Bangladesh series. Only those who are fully fit will be considered for inclusion in the national team.

Red-ball team coach Jason Gillespie will soon rejoin the Pakistan Shaheens camp in Karachi, while Gary Kirsten and Azhar Mahmood will remain in Lahore for a few more days to prepare coaching plans for the National Cricket Academy.

In a recent meeting, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi empowered the coaches by giving them a free hand in their roles. However, the foreign coaches expressed dissatisfaction with the current selection procedures of the PCB and emphasized the need for significant improvements in the players' techniques.

It is worth noting that Bangladesh will face Pakistan in two Tests, with matches scheduled in Rawalpindi from 21st to 25th August and in Karachi from 30th August to 3rd September.
