Harbhajan refuted the entire narrative in his social media post, firmly stating that the story was untrue
Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh took to social media to express his displeasure regarding a viral story shared by ex-Pakistan skipper Inzamam Ul Haq during an interview. In the interview, Inzamam claimed that Harbhajan was captivated by Maulana Tariq Jameel and even contemplated converting to Islam.
According to Inzamam, the incident occurred during a period when the cricketers, including Harbhajan, attended prayer sessions led by Maulana Tariq Jameel. Inzamam narrated that after observing the sessions, Harbhajan expressed admiration for Maulana Tariq Jameel, expressing a desire to follow his teachings.
“We had a room where prayers were conducted. Maulana Tariq Jameel used to visit us in the evening and lead us into a namaz. After a few days, Irfan Pathan, Mohammad Kaif and Zaheer Khan also started coming. Four other Indian cricketers sat and watched us,” Inzamam said.
“Harbhajan, who was unaware that Tariq Jameel was a maulana, said that ‘I am impressed with this man and want to follow his words',” he added.
Harbhajan, however, refuted the entire narrative in his social media post, firmly stating that the story was untrue.
He emphasized his identity as a 'proud Sikh' and contradicted the claim of considering a conversion to Islam.
