The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reinstated Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf's central contract after he admitted his mistake.

Rauf had his contract terminated last month due to his refusal to join Pakistan's Test team for the tour of Australia 2023-24. However, Rauf appealed the decision, explaining his reasons for opting out of the tour.

Following his appeal, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, in a presser on Sunday in Lahore, announced the restoration of Rauf's contract, citing a letter from the player acknowledging his error.

"We have got a letter from Haris Rauf, in which he has written that there was a misunderstanding and he made a wrong decision. After we got his letter in writing, we have restored his central contract," Naqvi said.

“We are currently working on his injury. He is our star player and we have to look after him,” he added.

Rauf is currently recovering after suffering a dislocated shoulder during the recently-concluded ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

During the press conference, Naqvi addressed inquiries about Imad Wasim's decision to rescind his retirement and make himself available for the Pakistan cricket team ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

“Our focus right now is the World Cup and his [Imad] inclusion makes the team stronger. We have not discussed NOCs with him but we want him to play for the country. It will be the same for the rest of players,” Naqvi said.

“There will be no relaxation on NOCs. We will follow policies as per the contracts. No player will be exempted. We will not be paying heed to any lobbying,” he added.
