Pakistan's fast bowler, Haris Rauf, is facing an injury concern ahead of their crucial ICC World Cup 2023 match against England at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday.

Rauf left the field during Pakistan and New Zealand match due to a potential rib sprain. He underwent tests at a local hospital in Kolkata after complaining of discomfort in his ribs.

During the game against New Zealand, Haris Rauf conceded 85 runs in 10 overs before leaving the field. Another Pakistani player, Shadab Khan, had previously suffered a concussion during a match against South Africa in Chennai and has not yet made a return. His participation in Pakistan's upcoming game remains uncertain.

It's worth noting that Pakistan's chances of advancing to the World Cup semi-finals are still uncertain, as they do not have full control over their destiny. Pakistan's next match against England on November 11 is a must-win, but the outcomes of matches involving Afghanistan and New Zealand will likely influence their fate.

The main competition for Pakistan is with New Zealand, who also have one more match to play. However, New Zealand holds an advantage in net run rate (NRR) and will face Sri Lanka on November 9 in Bengaluru. Currently, New Zealand is ranked fourth with an NRR of 0.398, while Pakistan is fifth with an NRR of 0.036.
