Haroon Rashid's brief tenure as Chief Selector is expected to come to an end soon.

According to details, the newly-appointed Pakistan Team Director, Mickey Arthur, intends to have complete control over all team matters, including the selection of the playing XI, and thus, desires to form a new selection committee.

Arthur has assumed a powerful role as director and is expected to make important decisions in the coming days.

Rasheed was appointed as the head of the selection committee in January, following former Pakistan captain, Shahid Afridi's brief stint in the role.

However, according to sources, his tenure is expected to come to an end, and some other new responsibilities will be handed over to him by PCB Chairman, Najam Sethi.

Arthur is reportedly looking for a Chief Selector who can take important decisions without any fear of criticism.

The decision about the new selection committee is expected to be made either before or after the Sri Lanka tour in July.

Pakistan recently faced defeat against Afghanistan, which was the first time in history. The Men in Green lost the three-match T20I series against the Afghan team 2-1 in Sharjah.

In this series, several senior players, including captain Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman and Haris Rauf, were given rest, and Shadab Khan led the team.

Haroon Rashid has expertise in domestic cricket affairs, and his services can be beneficial in this field in the future. It remains to be seen, who will be appointed as the new Chief Selector and how the team will perform under the new leadership.
