The PCB spokesperson made it clear that its participation in the mega event will be subject to government clearance
The International Cricket Council (ICC) is confident about the Pakistan team travelling to India for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
In response to concerns regarding Pakistan's participation in the tournament, an ICC spokesperson conveyed their belief that Pakistan will indeed be present for the prestigious event.
"All members have to abide by the rules and the laws of their country and we respect that. But we're confident Pakistan will be in India for the men's cricket World Cup," an ICC spokesperson told PTI.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) once again shared its official stance regarding the ODI World Cup 2023 schedule unveiled by the ICC on Tuesday.
The PCB spokesperson made it clear that its participation in the mega event will be subject to government clearance.
“The board requires the Government of Pakistan’s clearance for any tour to India, including the match venues,” PCB spokesperson said.
“We are liaising with our government for guidance, and as soon as we hear something from them, we will update the Event Authority [ICC]. This position is consistent to what we had told the ICC a couple of weeks ago when they shared with us the draft schedule and sought our feedback,” he added.
The much-anticipated India-Pakistan clash is scheduled for Sunday October 15 in Ahmedabad. The Men in Green last played in India during the 2016 T20I World Cup.
