Pakistan’s former cricketer Tanvir Ahmed, in a Youtube video on Friday, claimed that the dreadful captaincy of the Karachi Kings’ skipper Imad Wasim was the reason behind their crushing 52-run loss at the hands of Multan Sultans at the Multan Cricket Ground in Multan on Friday.

The 41-year-old stated that Karachi Kings’ shoddy fielding effort allowed the batsmen of Multan Sultans to post a big total.

“Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans locked horns recently. Let’s talk a little bit about the captaincy of Imad Wasim. I think the way he led the side was dreadful. If we talk about the fielding, it was horrible. They dropped many catches. Moeen Ali got a fifty because of that,” Tanvir said.

The former cricketer was baffled by Imad’s insistence to not bowl with new ball which he frequently does for the national T20 side.

“What I don’t understand is that when Imad plays for Pakistan, he bowls with the new ball, whether there is a right-hander facing or a left-hander. I don’t think he can be very successful outside the new ball. He has a lot of variations with the new ball,” he said.

Tanvir questioned the logic behind not utilising the young left-arm spinner Umer Khan, when the Multan Sultans’ batsmen were scoring freely.

“They played Umer Khan, the left-arm spinner, who played incredibly well in the last season of the PSL. It is surprising that he did not even get to bowl one over. I have no idea why they would do that. I don’t understand the logic behind not bowling him to left-handers. Do left-handed batsmen not face left-handed pacers around the world? What kind of cricket is this? He is a genuine spinner and should have bowled,” he said.

The former cricketer pointed out that the loss suffered by Karachi Kings at the hands of Multan Sultans was because of their own mistakes.

“They tried Iftikhar who went for a lot of runs. Delport bowled four overs as well. Your main bowler however does not bowl an over. This captaincy is beyond confusing. Umer Khan could have received wicket taking chances by bowling flighted deliveries. He could have turned the ball as well. Karachi lost because of its own mistakes,” he concluded.
