India secured their fifth consecutive victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating Bangladesh convincingly by 50 runs at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua and Barbuda.

Remaining undefeated in the tournament, India's win puts them on the brink of securing a spot in the semi-finals.

Bangladesh faced a sluggish start in their chase as Indian bowlers maintained control. Litton Das departed early for 13 runs off Hardik Pandya's bowling in the fifth over.

Despite Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto's steady performance, he lacked support from his teammates. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav added pressure by dismissing Tanzid Hasan (29) and Towhid Hridoy (4).

Shakib Al Hasan attempted to accelerate but fell for 11 off 8 balls, also to Kuldeep Yadav. Najmul's innings concluded when Jasprit Bumrah deceived him with a slower delivery, resulting in a 31-ball 40.

Rishad Hossain contributed a quick 24 off 10 balls to narrow the gap, but it wasn't enough.

India's bowling was led by Jasprit Bumrah with figures of 2/13 and Arshdeep Singh with 2/30, while Kuldeep Yadav stood out with 3/19.

Earlier, India posted a formidable total of 196/5 after opting to bat first. They started aggressively with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli opening the innings. Rohit Sharma scored a quick 23 off 11 balls before falling to Shakib Al Hasan.

India managed their best powerplay score of 53/0 in the tournament before Tanzim Hasan Sakib dismissed Kohli (37) and Suryakumar Yadav (6) in quick succession.

Rishabh Pant played a brisk innings, scoring 36 from 24 balls with four fours and two sixes. Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya then accelerated, adding 53 runs for the fifth wicket. Dube smashed 34 off 24 balls with three sixes, while Pandya remained unbeaten on 50 off 27 balls.

India's final Super 8 match will be against Australia on June 24.
